Sulfur (Sulphur)
Sulphur is one of the essential nutrients required for the healthy development of plants. It plays an active role in protein synthesis, chlorophyll formation and enzyme activity, supporting balanced plant growth. Adequate sulphur nutrition enhances leaf colour vibrancy and positively contributes to yield and product quality.
Sulphur, which has the property of regulating soil pH levels, increases the availability of phosphorus and micronutrients such as iron, zinc and manganese to plants, particularly in alkaline and calcareous soils. This allows plants to utilise the nutrients present in the soil more effectively.
Sulphur applied to the soil gradually converts into sulphate form, which can be absorbed by plants, thereby improving soil structure, supporting root development and contributing to increased soil fertility in the long term. In addition to its agricultural use, it is also an important raw material for the chemical and fertiliser industries.
Usage Areas
Sulphur, soil management practices, oil-rich seeds, legumes, fruit and vegetable cultivation with chemistry and fertiliser industry areas are used.
